Description

PBT/ABS alloys are composed of blends of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and ABS polymers.

By varying the ratio of these two polymers during the compounding process, a family of alloys is produced which have excellent moldability and make them suitable for a wide range of engineering applications.

The addition of glass fiber reinforcement gives this alloy high heat deflection performance. Also, the addition of flame retardant additives further extends the application areas for this versatile alloy.

Characteristics

PBT/ABS alloys are characterised by their excellent moldability, high heat deflection performance up to 200 deg C and improved resistance to warpage with glass fiber reinforced grades.

This alloy range is highly resistant to attack by chemicals and oils. The external appearance of parts using glass fiber reinforced grades is superior to other reinforced engineering polymers.

Applications

Internal components for office equipment, such as chassis, fans and housings.
Electronic components, including connectors, switches, bobbins and terminal boards.
Electrical components, such as hair dryer nozzles, plugs and small appliance parts.
Parts requiring high heat resistance, low warpage, and good surface finish, such as microwave oven doors and control panels.
